I believe Trevor is the next phenom in Nascar's up and coming stars! He also fits into the MWR stable well, personality wise. Hopefully Mikey is his P. R. coach, cause no one does it better or more naturally.

I love both forms - dirt & NASCAR. Have owned dirt winged sprint car for ages. Central PA is hotbed for dirt track racing w/Williams Grove on Friday nights for the big sprints & Trailways for limited sprints, etc., Saturday you can choose between numerous tracks for numerous divisions of dirt racing. Love that Tony, Kasey, Dave Blaney, Clint Bower & others are involved and try to help different aspects of local dirt track racing. Hey we get to see Tony, Kasey (he even races some here too), Ryan Newman - walking the pits at Williams Grove when the WoO Sprints are in town. Great Stuff!

Love the dirt races although I do find it harder to follow since I'm used to all the bells and whistles that NASCAR has - scanners, etc.

I tune in for this race every year, not only because it is a charity event, but because the drivers are having so much fun and that makes it great to watch. They aren't any less intense in their racing, but they aren't wound up as tight either so it is very enjoyable. I hope that people watching on TV might try and find their local dirt track and check it out.

I too am in karting and mostly race dirt oval karting with the WKA (World Karting Association). I agree completely with Brandon on this one. I have been racing for ten years and might I add, I have been "prepping" tires for ten years also. The only real negative of prepping tires with chemicals is the fact that the chemicals end up in the dirt. Once the chemicals are in the dirt it doesn't take long for them to get into the water. As the WKA has tried to stop the tire prepping over the last 5 or so years I have learned that the only thing we can do about it is try to make less harmful chemicals to prep with, which is only a partial sollution I guess. But lets be real here. Just about everything we use on a daily basis has harmful chemicals right down to the soda we drink and fast food we eat. Prepping tires adds a whole new dynamic to racing and it is a very technical process, and just for a comparison... I have gained up to 6 tenths on a 1/8 mile dirt track just by switching from unprepped to prepped tires. Just a little something to think about next time your watching a race!

I worked for Duayne's Grandparents, Guy Sr. and Magda Hommel; and his father, Guy Jr., for several years and know Duayne and the family personally. The day of the accident, Duayne came by the office to get his Grandfather's backhoe. One of the guys that worked for Duayne and Jr. in the race shop had a horse to die and Duayne needed the backhoe to bury it for him. Duayne was always so sweet to me and my 8 yr. old daughter thought he was greatest thing since sunshine. He had been going through a rough patch in his personal life, but things were looking up and he was so happy. I was so proud of him. We talked for quite a while, he left with the backhoe, I went on home....then got the call late that night from his first cousin, Laura. From that moment, life as we all that were close to the Hommels, changed. I am so proud and blessed to know all of this family and count them as some of my dearest friends. Racing will never be the same without Duayne or the Hommels' influence.
