FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
HARRIMAN, TN (December 30, 2009)—After the Tennessee Thunder Series announced that they will not be returning for action in 2010, a group of individuals from East Tennessee and Kentucky have formed the Volunteer Racing Series for the upcoming Dirt Late Model Season.
Known around the East Tennessee Dirt Late Model scene, Mike Kittrell and J.J. Templeton along with Kentucky Dirt Late Model promoter Chris Tilley have formed the new racing group, aimed at keeping East Tennessee racing strong and competitive.
‘East Tennessee has some of the best-kept secrets in the country, it sure has some of the best drivers and some of the best racing venues around, we need to show the rest of the region what the State of Tennessee has to offer, ’ stated Chris Tilley.
Officials with the new Volunteer Racing Series have structured the rules and purses to keep both the drivers and promoters in mind. ‘With tough economical times we have to look at both ends of the spectrum, the racers need good paying races and the promoters also have to benefit,’ stated co-founder Chris Tilley. Some of the rules and purses will be structured around what the BoB Series has done in Kentucky.
With Kittrell and Templeton attending to their own race teams, Chris Tilley will serves as Series Director while handling day-to-day operations of the series and race night operation. Tilley serves as President of the Battle of the Bluegrass DirtCar Series in Kentucky and is an Executive Board Member on the National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame.
An official website is forthcoming and will be released in the near future. Further information on the Volunteer Racing Series can be obtained by contacting Chris Tilley at (606) 219-1723 or tilleyracing@hotmail.com .
